Impact & Case Studies
Field work, funding pathways, and lessons from implementation.
TCUS tests its methods through real projects, partnerships, and research. Our impact work is not only about what was funded or built. It is also about what each case teaches us about evidence, trust, commitments, and the path from intention to implementation.
How we understand impact
Impact is not only the outcome. It is the pathway that made the outcome possible.
A classroom, library, platform, or research report matters. But TCUS is also interested in the hidden pathway behind the result: who needed to act, what evidence mattered, which commitment unlocked the next step, and what was learned for future work.
Pathfinder gives us a way to study those pathways. It helps us ask whether a project moved from evidence to trust, from trust to commitment, from commitment to implementation, and from implementation to learning.
The goal is not to force scale. The goal is to make the next responsible commitment possible.
Featured case study
From the Ground Up: education infrastructure funding in Ethiopia.
In TCUS’ first year, more than $100,000 in aligned funding supported classroom and library projects connected to trusted education partners in Ethiopia.
Kebele 20 Classroom Update
Four concrete classrooms completed
TCUS helped close a $14,000 funding gap in a broader partner pathway. Together We Learn Ethiopia later reported that the completed project delivered four concrete classrooms with furniture, learning resources, and a playground for kindergarten children.
Gendit Library Support
$70,000 DAF transfer facilitated
TCUS served as a U.S. 501(c)(3) bridge for a donor-advised fund gift supporting the Gendit school library build and resourcing.
Pathfinder lesson
Small commitments can unlock larger pathways
These projects showed how targeted trust, timing, and institutional fit can move an education infrastructure pathway forward.
Case study portfolio
Current learning cases.
Each case is a practical test of TCUS’ evidence-to-action approach.
Education Infrastructure · Ethiopia
From the Ground Up
Classroom and library funding pathways with Together We Learn Ethiopia, Building Futures Ethiopia, local Ethiopian partners, community supporters, and a U.S. donor-advised fund. The Kebele 20 classroom pathway is now documented with a partner completion update.
People Layer · Live MVP
Libelle Development
Libelle is the people layer of the TCUS Superstack. It helps coordinate volunteer intake, matching, onboarding, and useful contribution.
Research · Adoption Pathways
Construction Innovation Research
TCUS is studying how construction innovations move from demonstration to second decisions, institutional adoption, bounded use, or abandonment.
Methodology · Pathfinder
Evidence-to-Action Infrastructure
Pathfinder is TCUS’ methodology for managing adoption pathways under uncertainty. It gives structure to evidence, decisions, readiness, and work.
Pathfinder lens
What we look for in every case.
TCUS impact cases are not only stories of activity. They are opportunities to understand how good work moves.
Evidence
What was known, and what remained uncertain?
Actor
Who controlled the next meaningful decision?
Commitment
What action, funding, approval, or responsibility moved the pathway forward?
Implementation
What had to happen in the real world for the commitment to matter?
Learning
What did the case teach us about future pathways?
Why Ethiopia matters
A place where implementation pathways are visible and consequential.
Ethiopia is a place where education, health, housing, energy, and infrastructure systems are still being built under real constraints. Decisions made today will shape opportunity, resilience, and development pathways for decades.
TCUS began in Ethiopia because the need is real, the partnerships are meaningful, and the learning is transferable. The goal is not to impose outside solutions. The goal is to support trusted partners and learn from real implementation pathways.
What comes next
From impact stories to reusable learning.
The next phase of TCUS impact work is to turn each case into reusable learning: what happened, what evidence mattered, who decided, what was blocked, what moved, and what should be carried into the next pathway.
That means improving our case-study templates, publishing clearer updates, supporting partner work, and connecting field learning back into Pathfinder.
Impact
Good work becomes stronger when its pathway is visible.
TCUS exists to help people, partners, funders, evidence, and institutions find the next responsible commitment.
